The first written records of Casa Bellavista, from the second half of the 18th Century, tell of a farm that worked extensive areas of the fertile land around the house until the end of the 1960’s.
The small house within the ground was originally built as a drying shed where the tobacco would be lightly dried before being sent off for manufacture. The ground floor rooms of Casa Bellavista were originally the stables for the cattle, the famous white "Chiana" breed particular to this valley. The upper floor was the family home.
